Detect and link duplicates
Reported by Mo | November 16th, 2008 @ 02:32 PM
Status values in the form “Duplicate/[ ]” should probably be automagically turned into rdar://problem/ links.
If you wanted to be really clever about it, you could link only those which already exist in Open Radar (though that would be inconsistent with the top-level listing).
I suppose that gives you three choices…
(a) Don't link at all (as they are now) (b) Link to rdar: URLs (unconditionally) (c) Link to OpenRadar URLs (possibly only if they exist)
The latter option is—I guess—the most useful to non-Apple folks. If RadarForwarder becomes popular amongst OpenRadar users, there's probably not a huge difference between the two, of course.

I support (c), linking to OpenRadar, as a significant chunk of users will be outside Apple and unable to use the rdar:// links without RadarForwarder.
We should tailor it to casual visitors who just want to browse the bugs.
Alternately (at the expense of a clean list), we could format statuses as "Duplicate /XXXXXXX [R]" with both internal and rdar:// links.

Having slept on it, I think you're right about focus, there—links should generally be to OpenRadar, rather than rdar://.
I quite like the [R] idea. You could possibly misappropriate the registered-trademark symbol to indicate “this is a rdar:/// link for the aforementioned item”.
